“I stepped into the entertainment industry at fifteen full of passion, a hunger to learn and a willingness to grow,” said Soweto-born actress, DJ and media personality Thuli P, reflecting on her journey as she officially enters the music world with her debut EP, “Avana”.
The release marks her arrival in the male-dominated private school amapiano scene, where she brings intention, style and emotional depth.
Thuli P’s path in entertainment has been expansive. She began with youth programming, moving from “Tshisa" to “Thula”, then presenting on Craz-e.
Her acting career includes roles in iconic series such as “Generations”, “Makoti”, “The Republic”, “Rockville” and “The Wife”.
“Each project has shaped my craft and deepened my respect for storytelling,” she explained. In 2017, she expanded into DJing, a move that she described as life-changing.
“It has sustained me creatively and professionally, and it reaffirmed my belief that reinvention is a strength, not a risk, especially through all the public trials and tribulations.”
Alongside her artistic pursuits, Thuli P has worked with respected brands through commercials, endorsements and partnerships that align with her values.
She holds a BA in Strategic Brand Management from the University of Johannesburg, a qualification that she said has empowered her to grow a business that explores entertainment, media and entrepreneurship with intention.
Recently, she founded Avana Records, which she called “a home for my music journey and the future voices I hope to champion. My first EP, ‘Avana’, is a celebration of this new chapter.”
“Avana” features tracks that explore love, empowerment and social consciousness. The lead single, “Hai Suka”, speaks to women who create their own paths and embrace independence.
“It’s about embracing your power without comparison, trusting your journey and taking pride in the woman you are building,” Thuli P said.
“Molo” tells a story of love between two people with pure intentions.
“It captures the excitement of finding a love that feels honest, gentle and certain. A promise to protect the feeling, to grow together and to believe in a future that begins with ‘hello’ and quietly points toward forever.”
“Mali Yam” blends romance with ambition.
“What begins like a serenade to a lover slowly reveals a deeper devotion to money, freedom and possibility. It’s a bold celebration of desire, independence and the life you’re determined to build,” she explained.
The track, “Kube Kuya Ngam”, presents a vision shaped by Ubuntu.
“A world without poverty, without suffering and without division. It’s about seeing each other as one, sharing what we have and honouring the worth of every human being, regardless of status or wealth. We’re in between two conflicting worlds,” Thuli P reflected.
