Remember Chomee? The singer, known for energetic live performances, kwaito hits such as “Hlokoloza”, and bold choreography, is back in the spotlight.

The star has officially returned to music with a football-inspired anthem titled “Tjovitjo (Bafana Is Back)” ahead of the 2026 Fifa World Cup.

Released under 999 Music, the song celebrates Bafana Bafana as the national team prepares for football’s biggest stage.

Fans have already praised the track for bringing back memories of the country’s unforgettable World Cup era and the excitement that once united supporters across Mzansi.

Music producer and 999 Music founder Arthur Mafokate announced the release on social media, saying, “Bafana Bafana is back. Chomee returns with ‘Tjovitjo’, a powerful new football-inspired anthem built for the streets, the supporters and the stadiums. This is the sound of football season, green and gold Fridays and match day celebrations.”

He added: “Featuring a beautifully crafted music video with explosive choreography, powerful dance moments and scenes inspired by the unforgettable football spirit that united the nation. If this plays after a Bafana goal, we’re losing our minds.”

Born Thulisile Madihlaba, Chomee earned recognition as South Africa’s “Queen of Dance” through her energetic performances and kwaito sound.

Raised in Soweto, she discovered her love for performing at the age of nine and started dancing professionally when she was just 10 years old.

Mafokate later spotted her talent and introduced her to the music industry through his label.

Under his mentorship, she moved from being a backing dancer to becoming one of the country’s recognised performers.

Beyond music, Chomee has also built a career in television and entertainment leadership.

She served as a judge on the SABC1 dance competition “Turn It Out" and portrayed the glamorous Ms Chichi on the soapie, “Muvhango”.

In 2019, she joined the board of Moshito, where she focused on encouraging youth and female participation in entertainment.

She also runs her media company Divatainment, which empowers young people through creative and digital workshops.
