The family of actress Londiwe Nene confirmed in a statement that she passed away at the age of 35.
She passed away on October 11, according to the statement, and her cause of death was not revealed by her family.
“As a family, we are deeply heartbroken by this loss and kindly ask for privacy as we navigate through this time of sorrow. Your understanding, compassion and prayers mean a great deal to us as we find strength and comfort in one another,” read the statement.
Nene was a budding face in the entertainment industry, having appeared on Showmax's "Youngins" as Aunt Thuli.
She is a qualified journalist and has appeared on "Durban General" as Sibongile and Moja Love as a presenter on season three of the show called "Uthando Noxolo".
Her first acting gig was on Mandla N's successful production "Lockdown", acting alongside acting greats Dawn Thandeka King and Linda Sobezo.
She had a small role on Mzansi Magic's former telenovela "The Queen" produced by Ferguson Films.
In 2019, she had her first big gig on Moja Love's "Bheka Sik’bambile", which had three seasons.
She also filmed a series called "Erased" where she portrayed a prostitute.
In a previous interview with Daily Sun, Nene opened up about her hopes to make it big in the entertainment industry.
Many of her fans and supporters have taken to Nene's Instagram posts to share their disbelief over her passing and messages of condolences.
"Haai 😢 may your beautiful soul rest in peace babe. What a tragedy," said MsMotsepe.
"South Africa has lost such a talent. My heart is broken. Condolences to the family and friends 🕊️," wrote Nthabi.Molebatsi.
