In a celebration of female entrepreneurship, Taryn Hunter Sharman has been honoured as the Entrepreneur of the Year at the prestigious Women of Stature Awards.

This accolade not only recognises her exceptional contributions to the South African business landscape but also highlights her innovative approach to building sustainable enterprises.

As the founder and managing director of Faith & Fear (Pty) Ltd, Hunter Sharman has adopted a different approach to the traditional agency model.

The Johannesburg-based consultancy operates on a distributed structure, working closely with women-owned businesses and independent specialists rather than relying on a fixed internal team.

This has allowed the agency to collaborate with major South African brands, such as Profmed Medical Scheme, Liberty, and RMB, while focusing on work that holds both commercial and social significance.

Hunter Sharman’s commitment to empowerment extends beyond her agency. She is also behind The Brave Collective, a platform designed to help women build confidence, achieve financial independence, and foster stronger professional networks.

Her initiatives exemplify a growing trend in the entrepreneurial space, where social impact is intertwined with business success.

Speaking after receiving the award, she expressed that the recognition reflects a broader intention behind her work.

"I’ve spent a long time thinking about what it means to build something that lasts. It’s not just a business that performs, but a model that opens doors for other people," Hunter Sharman affirms.

This dedication to inclusivity and sustainability clearly resonates within her professional ethos.

The award adds to a growing list of accolades, including the Standard Bank Top Women in Business Award in the SMME category. Despite her impressive achievements, Hunter Sharman’s focus remains unchanged.

“I’ve never been interested in building something that works for me alone,” she says. “I want to build models that work for others, long after I’m no longer in the room.”
