As December unfolds and festive cheer fills the air, South African radio presenter and comedian Felix Hlophe finds himself joyfully celebrating love.
Hlophe recently achieved a significant milestone in his life - marrying Ayanda Bhengu, who has now become his second wife.
This union was formalised through traditional lobola negotiations that Hlophe proudly initiated.
Bhengu shared her excitement on TikTok, posting a heartfelt video that captures their journey and the beautiful ceremony.
“A promise kept 🐄🐂🐄🐂 thank you my husband 💍❤️🙏🥹,” she wrote in the video’s caption.
The couple, dressed in matching traditional outfits and embracing one another, radiated happiness, and their content quickly gained traction on social media, attracting well-wishes from many for their new beginning.
However, the couple's relationship has not always been without challenges.
In 2024, Hlophe and Bhengu faced a turbulent period that led to their breakup.
Their split was marked by an exchange where Hlophe accused Bhengu of infidelity, calling into question her commitment to their relationship.
“You’re behaving like a cheating woman. Like you’re juggling two guys,” he exclaimed, showcasing the emotional turmoil they experienced.
Following the tumultuous exchanges, Hlophe offered to cancel the lobola agreement, a proposal Bhengu readily accepted, stating, “My peace and sanity come first.”
With heartfelt reflections, Hlophe acknowledged both their roles in the relationship breakdown, expressing sentiments of love despite their parting ways.
Hlophe has been married to his first wife, Tracy Hlophe Smith, for seven years, raising two children together, alongside four children from previous relationships.
His recent announcement of seeking a second wife shocked many fans, as polygamy remains a polarising subject in contemporary South Africa.
The comedian opened up about his personal life through the recent launch of his reality show, “Life with Felix”, which aired on Mzansi Magic, providing an intimate glimpse into his family dynamics.
As the reality show unfolded, tensions surfaced between Smith and Bhengu, particularly following controversial comments made by Bhengu regarding the paternity of Tracy’s son.
In a bid to mend bridges, Bhengu took to Instagram in September to offer a public apology to Tracy, expressing regret for her previous remarks and acknowledging the breach of trust.
“I take full responsibility for my actions, and I deeply regret breaking the confidence placed in me,” she reflected, highlighting her commitment to being more respectful and mindful in the future.
