South African reality TV star Jojo Robinson is heading into surgery on Friday, April 10, to remove six skin cancers from her back, sharing the emotional journey with her followers on Instagram.

Robinson recently revealed her diagnosis, describing it as “invasive skin cancer” and explaining the physical and emotional impact.

She reassured fans that the condition isn’t caused by tattoos, writing, “Skin CANCER is NOT linked to tattoos… It’s genetic, it’s also from UV exposure, and the type of skin I have.”

In her latest post, Robinson reflected on the bittersweet reality of surgery.

“The last day, my back tattoo will look like this. Tomorrow is surgery day, where we remove the multiple skin cancers on my back, currently 6 altogether,” she wrote, acknowledging that large sections of her tattoo, crafted over more than 30 hours, would be removed.

She found perspective in a follower’s words: “What is the core behind tattoos? It’s your story told on the outside. Essentially, this is just the next phase of that story.”

Robinson admitted the past weeks have been emotionally heavy: “Also, I’m sorry I’ve been quiet, I’ve been sad 🐥,” but she remained focused on her health and recovery.

Despite uncertainty about the future, since this type of skin cancer can be lifelong, her priority is addressing what’s currently present and moving forward.

Her post also celebrated the tattoo she created and wore proudly for years: “I loved her as she is, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I WORE it proudly for the years it looked like this.”

In Robinson's own words, the surgery isn’t an end, it’s the next chapter of her story, marking a new phase while honouring the life and art she’s already lived.
