The 2026 Mahindra Fusion Fest showcase featured four genre-defying musical fusions, paired with immersive fashion designs and cutting-edge visual art.

This nostalgic journey was led by Zoë Modiga and featured legends such as Mafikizolo, Kurt Darren and Claire Johnston, with fashion by Imprint and pop art by Shaun ‘Damn Vandal’ Oakley.

Modiga wowed audiences with her five outfits designed by the award-winning Afro-Futuristic Pan-African fashion brand founded by Mzukisi Mbane.

Mbane, speaking to IOL, shared just how much fun he had creating the looks for the multi-award-winning songstress.

“I think what sort of guided me in developing all the five looks was how intentional Mahindra was in their brief that they gave to me in making sure that the guest understand that it is a fusion on Imprint with Zoe’s music but it also doesn’t end there, it’s also a fusion of Zoe in all the other songs that she gets to perform that aren’t her songs,” said Mbane.

The award-winning fashion designer revealed that Modiga’s first look was the most exciting and wanted to create a moment that was sort of the musician's rebirth through her song "Umdali".

“We used the new Imprint butterfly print from our resort collection, INDALO KaSomandla. I wanted people to see her coming out of that black cocoon and literally have the butterfly be born on stage.”

Modiga’s black and white look for her performance of Mango Groove’s all-time smash hit “Special Star” is another look Mbane had fun with.

“I wanted her to have that schoolgirl look, but still have it be Imprint fashion and Zoe’s brand. We all remember back in the days, Mango Groove, the schoolgirl dance groups that would perform to the sounds. So I took inspiration from there.”

Mahindra Fusion Fest returned this year bigger, bolder, and more immersive, bringing together thousands of fans, artists, and creators for one of South Africa’s most distinctive celebrations of music, fashion, and art.
