Police in KwaZulu-Natal have launched a manhunt after a cash-in-transit (CIT) vehicle was robbed on Tuesday.
It was robbed along the R617 near the P27-1 Pevensey turn-off. No injuries were reported among the security personnel or members of the public.
KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that detectives are investigating a case of cash-in-transit robbery.
“The cash delivery vehicle was allegedly robbed of an undisclosed amount of money on the R617 main road near the Mahwaqa location,” said Netshiunda.
According to Netshiunda, the truck was travelling from Underberg towards Bulwer when it came under attack from an unknown number of suspects travelling in at least two vehicles. The suspects overpowered the guards before fleeing with bags of cash.
