Durban - Former DA leader in eThekwini Nicole Graham says she has settled in Australia and is enjoying her MBA course.
Graham resigned from her position as the caucus leader and as executive committee councillor in the eThekwini Municipality at the end of July.
“Hi everyone. I hope you're all well. I have settled well in Australia and am enjoying my course at the University of Sydney,” she said in an update on her Facebook page.
Graham said the Facebook page is in the process of being renamed and handed over to the leadership of the DA in eThekwini.
“I won't be in control of it anymore, and I won't be checking messages, etc. Please keep following it to keep up with the team and their news,” she said.
Commenting on the post, one resident said: “We miss you Nicole but delighted to see that you are going so well in your new space - got to say our Clr Sakhile is doing an outstanding job communicating and fighting fiercely for our rights - sending much love and best wishes.”
Another resident said: “Good luck. Wishing you everything of the best in Aus, You are going to be sorely missed here in Durban. You did the most amazing work for us and kept us up to date continually! God Bless you.”
One woman said: “Wonderful to hear from you Nicole, thank you for your passion, care and love that showed in ALL your positive achievements in Durban & South Africa. Wishing you the absolute best for your future studies success.”
Grahham said: “If you would like to keep up with me personally, I am @NicoleGraham031 on both Twitter and Instagram.”
On September 7, Graham celebrated thirty-third birthday in Australia.
“Drinks at a bar named after the year I was born. Tomorrow I am 33! It is a privilege to be alive and to be living a life of courage and truth. When you’re up this high, only the ceiling has changed,” she said on her Twitter page.

She also started training at a “cool new” part-time job on Friday.
Graham described the process of applying for her drivers licence in Australia last week.
“Applied for a driver’s licence in Aus today (Tuesday). Made a booking online, printed forms, got seen to immediately as I arrived and could apply for an ID card at the same time. In and out in 20 minutes. Technology + people management + customer service- it should be simple, right?”
Showing her patriotism, Graham went to support the Springboks in Sydney earlier this month.
The Springboks won their first test in Australia since 2013 when they beat the Wallabies by 24-8 at the Allianz Stadium.
