GWM has expanded its diesel Tank 300 lineup with the announcement of a two-wheel drive version of the leisure SUV.
At R649,900, it comes in R50,000 less than the 2.4TD Super Lux 4WD AT and a substantial R90,000 less than the range-topping Ultra Lux 4WD.
Engine
It retains the same 2.4-litre turbo diesel engine that pushes out 135kW and 480Nm through a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
It still has the same three-ton braked towing capacity as the 4WD, with GWM claiming fuel consumption figures of 7.7l/100km.
While it doesn’t have all the 4x4 goodies of its siblings, it comes with an electronic rear axle differential lock and retains the transparent chassis view and off-road thermal management mode.
Interior
It also has the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with a nine-speaker sound system, as well as the 12.3-inch configurable driver display.
Automatic LED headlights with follow-me-home functionality come standard, as does the dual-zone climate control.
It has double-sealed doors, sound-insulated glass and a fully enclosed engine bay to reduce cabin noise.
Safety
In terms of safety, the Tank 2WD holds a five-Star ANCAP rating with Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Rear Collision Warning, Emergency Braking, and Blind Spot Detection, as well as 360° cameras, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and multiple airbags.
The colour choices are Mars Red, White, Grey, Orange and Black.
It comes with a seven-year/200,000km warranty, seven-year/75,000km service plan and seven-year/unlimited km Roadside Assist.
