Jetour’s T-Series SUVs have been something of a runaway success in South Africa, catapulting the brand from a monthly average of around 400 units at its launch in 2024 to over 1,700 units at present.
And now the Chery-owned brand gets the benefit of its parent company’s innovative plug-in hybrid technology with the release of the T1 and T2 i-DM models.
Launched at an event held at the SunBet Arena at Times Square in Pretoria on Tuesday night, the new T1 i-DM is priced from R689,900, while its more rugged counterpart, the T2 i-DM costs from R779,900.
This pits it directly against rivals such as the BAIC B30e 1.5T HEV Premium Adventure AWD (R689,900) and Haval H6 1.5T PHEV Ultra Luxury (R749,900).
The PHEV models boast combined outputs of up to 265kW.

The new Jetour PHEV models feature a 1.5-litre turbopetrol engine and electric motor, which produce combined outputs of 250kW in the T1 i-DM and 265kW in the T2 i-DM. The two models boast claimed electric-only range figures of 100km and 90km, respectively, while the combined range figure is listed at 1,200km for both.
The i-DM powertrain has an advanced energy management system that optimises both performance and efficiency.
The battery is also compatible with DC charging, which allows a 30–80% charge to take place in under 30 minutes.
Cabin features include dual-screen displays, wireless phone charging, a high-end audio system and a panoramic glass roof.
“The introduction of our PHEV models is an important strategic step for Jetour as we continue to balance sustainable mobility with meaningful user value,” says Nic Campbell, Vice President of Jetour South Africa.
“From an environmental perspective, these vehicles help reduce carbon emissions, aligning with the global shift toward greener development. At the same time, in a market where energy costs continue to fluctuate, PHEVs offer real practical benefit by lowering fuel consumption and helping users reduce their day-to-day running costs.”
Further details on the new models will be released in due course.
