Kaizer Chiefs announced a four-year partnership with insurance company Hollard on Friday, strengthening their relationship with the company.

Though they have been partners for the past 10 years, the deal will now see Hollard playing a bigger role in the team than before.

As part of the deal, Chiefs will display the Hollard logo on the sleeve on the new team jersey they are set to unveil this week, replacing former long-time partners Standard Bank. Hollard will also exhibit soccer field perimeter boards at Amakhosi’s home games, get television exposure during televised Chiefs matches and online exposure on the club’s website.

“We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with Hollard. The company has showed its commitment to Chiefs for the past 10 years and we are happy to be working with them. During our conversations about enhancing the partnership, Hollard demonstrated the greatest ability to not just be a sponsor but to become a key member at Kaizer Chiefs games,” Kaizer Motaung, the Amakhosi executive chairman, said on Friday after the deal was announced.

“Our relationship with Hollard also supports our goal of promoting financial literacy across our fan base. Hopefully we will achieve all the goals we have set out during the negotiations,” he added.

Hollard CEO Nic Kohler is also pleased with the deal between the company and Chiefs, saying they are hoping to make the experience of supporters at the stadium better than it usually is.

“We are delighted about extending our partnership with Kaizer Chiefs. There is no better, more passionate soccer fan base in the country than Chiefs. We look forward to developing exciting financial services solutions and marketing that will both extend access to valuable insurance benefits for the supporter base, as well as enhance the fan experience at Kaizer Chiefs games.”

Chiefs, who finished third in the past season, have been strengthening their squad as well. AmaZulu’s Lehlohonolo Majoro is set to join Amakhosi ahead of the new season after he agreed terms with the Naturena club. The striker, who scored 14 league goals in his first season in the PSL, could replace Zimbabwean striker and the PSL’s reigning top scorer, Knowledge Musona, who has attracted interest from Germany, reportedly Hoffenheim.

Majoro will join Junaid Mashamaite, the former BIDVest Wits captain and former Moroka Swallows leftback Keegan Ritchie, who have signed contracts as Chiefs look to build a team that will win the league title.
