Joburg - Former renowned actor and musician Innocent Masuku has come out stronger with hopes to reconnect and get opportunities after going through a detrimental phase of drug abuse.

Many know him for his on-screen characters that he portrayed on local television shows such as Yizo Yizo and Tshisa.

Masuku visited Podcast Chill with MacG, where he got candid about his journey to overcoming his drug addiction.

Masuku played the most loved character of Bobo on Yizo Yizo, where he was a high school drug addict.

While his career was on an upward trajectory with many viewers gravitating toward his on-screen personality, things took a bad turn after his drug addiction.

Having lost millions of money and valuables on drugs, he explains to the hosts how it all ensued leading to where he is at the moment.

“When I combine all the money I have lost in the industry it is around 5 million. There’s a house, cars, money and most importantly opportunities,” said Masuku.

He further shared details about the dangers of using drugs and how they demand you to smoke them frequently.

“Every minute you feel like you want to smoke. And with drugs like cocaine you can go for days without sleep. You go 3-4 days without sleep. You can also shut down for two days because you must have balance.”

The actor also revealed that when on drugs one hardly eats food because of the lack of appetite one experiences.

He points out that he does not pay mind to materialistic things but he is grateful for getting a second chance.

“I am grateful that God gave me a second chance and I am still alive. What I would like is to reconnect with people that I have worked with before. I need opportunities,” said Masuku
