Johannesburg - Award-winning a cappella group The Soil get candid about their lives on the first episode of favourite festive season special, “The Festive Get-Together in The Life Artois”, which premiers on November 17 on Mzansi Magic.

Hosted by media personality Unathi Nkayi and presented by Stella Artois, each episode puts the spotlight on celebrity pairs who recount their journeys to success over a special meal, while sharing the challenges of getting together with those who matter most.

Other guests over the four-episode season of “The Festive Get-Together” include comedy sisters Lesego “Coconut Kelz” Tlhabi and Wendy Gumede, father-son duo Lucas Radebe and Primo Baloyi, and former “Scandal” actors turned YouTube stars, Hungani and Stephanie Ndlovu.

With their music rooted in traditional sounds, The Soil created a special niche in the South African music world following the release of their platinum-selling debut album in 2003.

On the first episode of “The Festive Get-Together”, the group – consisting of lead singer Ntsika Ngxanga, beatboxer Luphindo and vocalist Buhlebendalo Mda – reflect on their early days of founding The Soil in high school, along with former member Samthing Soweto; their individual projects over the years; and then coming together last year for their upcoming album.

Nkayi commented about the show: “With each song influenced by a personal narrative, every member is a storyteller. On this episode, The Soil share their experiences of life, love, hardships and joy. It’s an endearing and self-affirming story.”

Each episode, Nkayi is also joined by a celebrity chef to create dishes for guests that invoke memories of love for their family and friends.

In this episode, internationally acclaimed and award-winning chef Bertus Basson creates a special South African festive menu for The Soil of their favourite dishes.

Bertus advocates fresh local ingredients and sees his work as an important responsibility to express South African heritage while creatively telling the stories of our history, our people, and our food.

“‘The Festive Get-together’ comes at a time of year when people are starting to slow down and think about making time for the people who matter most. So, the show is also there to inspire viewers with recipes they can cook themselves when hosting and how making time for friends and family in ‘The Life Artois’ brings so much joy and fulfilment,” says Estee Burger, Stella Artois marketing manager.

After each episode, viewers can access exclusive content and selected recipes from the show at www.stellaartoisafrica.com or via Instagram and Twitter.
