Charity knitting group needs wool

A knitting group supporting the Tygerberg Service Centre for the Aged and Meals on Wheels in Parow is appealing to the public to donate wool for a blanket drive.

All 22 members of the knitting group are pensioners who rely on donations to make blankets, beanies, bed socks for the elderly, the homeless and others in need, according to Corrie Swart, a member of the group.

They are busy with blankets for Meals on Wheels in Malmesbury, and 63 knee blankets have been completed, but their goal is to produce at least 100.

Donations can be dropped off on Thursday at 30 Weimar Street, Parow, or call Anna-Marrie Watt at 083 375 0246 to arrange collection.
