Brian Abbas Amidu, a former forward for the Kaizer Chiefs, is accused of drug trafficking in Zimbabwe.

According to Zimbabwean police, detectives captured Amidu close to the city of Kwekwe.

He was found in possession of dagga (cannabis) with an estimated street value of $75,000 (approximately R1,288,796).

He and Reuben Mhlanga, a former professional football player who had played for Dynamos FC, were both arrested.

The arrests were made after detectives, acting on a tip-off, intercepted Amidu and Mhlanga just outside Kwekwe.

They are suspected to be part of a larger drug trafficking syndicate operating across several provinces in Zimbabwe.

In a statement verifying the arrests, the Zimbabwe Republic Police named the suspects as Reuben Kudzai Mhlanga (41) and Tumai Matsika, also known as Abbas Amidu (29).

The statement further detailed that the two were found in possession of 750 kg of dagga, valued at USD 75,000.00, in a silver Honda Shuttle vehicle (registration number AGP 6776) along the Kwekwe–Kadoma Highway on 03/10/25.
