In a devastating incident this morning, a double-storey building in Doornkop, Soweto, collapsed, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives, including a one-year-old child. The unsettling event took place as six people were reportedly inside the structure at the time of the collapse.
Emergency services were swiftly dispatched to the scene, where three individuals were found trapped beneath the rubble.
Rescuers worked diligently to extricate those trapped, successfully rescuing two women and the young child, who were then rushed to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Johannesburg Emergency Services confirmed that before their arrival, the tragedy occurred without any prior warning. The cause of the collapse remains unclear, prompting swift investigations by city officials to ascertain the circumstances leading to this disaster.
