The Limpopo provincial commissioner of the South African Police Service, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, together with MEC for Transport and Community Safety Violet Mathye, will on Monday present the province’s crime statistics for the third quarter of the 2025/26 financial year.

The statistics cover the period from October to December 2025 and follow the recent national roll-out of third-quarter crime data by Acting Police Minister Professor Firoz Cachalia, which showed an 8.7% drop in the national murder rate and a 6.7% decline in overall violent crime compared with the same period last year.

National crime reporting last week also highlighted that the declines in violent crime have not been uniform, with certain provinces recording disturbing trends in murder, carjacking and kidnapping, particularly in Gauteng and the Western Cape.

According to Limpopo SAPS, the provincial leadership is expected to outline key crime patterns recorded during the quarter, highlight progress made in combating serious and violent crimes, and detail ongoing interventions aimed at strengthening safety and security across the province.

The media briefing will take place at 11 am at the provincial commissioner’s boardroom, Landank Building, along Schoeman Street in Polokwane.

Limpopo SAPS provincial spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said the briefing forms part of ongoing efforts to keep the public informed about crime patterns and police responses in the province.

Further details are expected to emerge during the briefing.
