Her vehicle finance application was approved, and the Ford Ranger was released to her.
“It was later discovered that a tracking device fitted to the vehicle was removed shortly after it left the dealership,” Ledwaba said.
According to police, Kgwete has paid no installments to the bank, and upon further investigation into the matter, the bank discovered that it had been defrauded. Thereafter, they immediately reported the matter to the police.
“A case of fraud was registered, and investigations revealed that the suspect provided a false working address and residential address in the Gauteng province,” Ledwaba said.
A warrant of arrest for Cynthia Kgwete was issued.
