Secure Cab - a 100% South African-owned e-hailing platform – officially launches in Greater Johannesburg, backed by a R50 million safety investment over the next three years from Skye Global, one of Africa’s largest close-protection companies operating in over 60 countries.

Founded by Lucien Chetty, CEO of Skye Global, author of Surviving Africa, and a former SAPS officer with 30 years of combined experience in law enforcement and global private security, Secure Cab was born out of a firsthand witness to the alarming risks faced by riders and drivers, including hijackings, robberies, assaults, and harassment.

This is not another foreign app. Secure Cab was designed and built over the past 12 months by South Africans, for South Africans.

What makes Secure Cab the safest ride in Africa:

This innovative service aims to combat the ride-share safety crisis with cutting-edge security measures and a commitment to local drivers.

  • Double-layer tracking: Partnership with Tracker South Africa for vehicles equipped with Tracker units + real-time in-app tracking monitored by Secure Cab’s own control centre.
  • Fixed panic buttons in vehicles: As per the new legislation, ride share vehicles must have SOS panics- rear for passengers, and front for drivers.
  • In-app SOS button: Directly linked to Secure Cab’s 24/7 monitoring centre with their own armed rapid-response teams on standby across the region.
