A R2.2 million Powerball ticket bought in Mayfield Square, Johannesburg, is about to expire. Ithuba urges the winner to come forward before the November 12 deadline, warning that unclaimed prizes are transferred to the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund.

There is less than eight days for the winner of a R2.2million Powerball Plus jackpot to claim their prize.
According to National Lottery Ithuba the person won R2.2million from the November 12, 2024 draw.
Tickets are valid for 365 days from the date of draw and thereafter expire.
Ithuba said the winning ticket was purchased at a retailer in Mayfield Square, Johannesburg, Gauteng.
The ticket officially expires on November 12, 2025.
Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza said: “We are urging all participants to check every possible ticket. Someone out there is sitting on a R2.2 million fortune.
"We would love to celebrate this win with thembefore it is too late.”
Ithuba said as of September 30, 2025, more than R157 million in winnings remains unclaimed,made up of both small and large prizes.
"Many participants only check for the jackpot and overlookother divisions that could still hold substantial wins."
Very often, when people realise that they did not win the jackpot, they do not bother checking if their ticket won anything.
"We encourage all in-store ticket holders to check all their tickets in-store as they might have won from various other divisions."
Ithuba said participants who play via banking and digital platforms are notified of their winnings, and winnings below R250,000 are paid directly to theiraccounts.
Once the claim period expires, all unclaimed winnings are transferred to the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF), which funds good causes and community upliftment initiatives across South Africa.
