Police are blaming a construction firm, carrying out renovations, for a huge fire that engulfed seven high-rise apartment blocks in Hong Kong, leaving more than 60 dead and 300 missing.

Police are blaming a construction firm, carrying out renovations, for a huge fire that engulfed seven high-rise apartment blocks in Hong Kong, leaving more than 60 dead and 300 missing.
The blaze broke out at 2.51pm local time on November 26, and quickly spread through an estate of tower blocks in the Tai Po district of the densely populated city.
Police have arrested three people from a construction company that had been carrying out renovations to the Wang Fuk Court apartment buildings since July 2024.
The buildings were covered with bamboo scaffolding and protective mesh sheets and plastic that may not have meet fire safety standards.
