New single ‘Scary’ marks Lloyiso’s emotional return to the music scene

Acclaimed soulful-pop sensation Loyiso 'Lloyiso' Gijana has released his brand-new single, Scary, marking the lead track from his highly anticipated upcoming EP, Never Thought I Could.

Drawing inspiration from his personal experiences, Gijana explains that it narrates a tale of a relationship lost amid conflicting life seasons.

It also tells a story of love interrupted; while he was dedicated to his burgeoning career, his partner was ready to give and receive love. Now, as he reveals that he finds himself emotionally prepared, she remains unavailable, a bittersweet twist to his story.

In a personal reflection on the single, Gijana shares, “Scary is my honest admission that I wasn't emotionally ready to give my whole heart, even though I physically wanted to. It’s a breakup with my past love, my old self, and my old ways, a reminder that love alone isn’t enough. You need time and self-awareness to truly love yourself before you can love someone else and to be strong enough to say, 'It was never about them; it was always about me.”

Taking to social media to also share his excitement with his fans, he said, “I've been waiting for the right time to put out this song, and this time of my life is the best time for you guys to experience this vulnerable piece of art finally. This is healing. Scary comes out tomorrow.”

Gijana’s reflections extend beyond this new release; earlier in the year, he discussed with the Saturday Star the importance of resilience in the face of rejection and adversity.

“I was at a point in my life where a lot of aspects of my life were breaking, ending and facing a lot of rejection. High was a reminder to myself that I do want more for myself than what I was facing at the time, and not only do I want more, but I am capable of achieving the said more as well. I just needed to stay resilient. I appreciate the support, and I guess it will always be a point of reflection as to how far I have come, and I love the idea that I get to share my art with people and have it impact people so much. But as a point of creating music, I create from a point of self, as that helps me stay authentic and real.”

This release follows a monumental year for Gijana, who has already made waves by selling out shows across South Africa and the UK. With millions of global streams under his belt, he has cultivated a devoted fanbase that eagerly awaits his every creative endeavour.
