Acclaimed opera star Zandile to spotlight empowerment and diversity in solo recital

South African-born opera singer Zandile is set to make a celebrated return to the stage with a Solo Recital on November 23, 2025, at The Linder Auditorium, Johannesburg.

The performance carries special significance, marking her return to the very stage where she first performed alongside the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

She explains that the upcoming recital aims to foster empowerment and diversity within the arts, addressing the limited exposure of classical music in South Africa.

“By establishing these avenues, the concert not only encourages local growth but also facilitates collaborations with international artists, offering greater global exposure and opening doors to further opportunities in the arts,” she says.

For this recital, she will be accompanied by Peter Valentovich, the distinguished Slovakian conductor and song accompanist.

Committed to nurturing the next generation, Zandile also uses her platform to mentor young artists and expose youth to classical music and fine arts.

“Fine arts and classical music share networks and there’s no reason we can’t work together to help each other grow,” the music sensation explains.

Joining her on stage will be fine artists Greatjoy and Azael, who will showcase their works alongside Zandile’s music, creating a fusion of sound and visual art.

“When opera meets fine art, audiences are drawn into a tapestry of sound and visuals, where every note and brushstroke evokes a world of emotion and wonder,” she says.

Hailing from the small town of Elliot near Ngcobo in the Eastern Cape, Zandile has built a remarkable international career. Her accolades include first prize at the LJUBA WELITSCH International Singing Competition, the 7th Mbokodo Award and the prestigious Mellon Foundation Scholarship.

She has represented South Africa on global stages and performed for esteemed dignitaries such as the late President Nelson Mandela, former Presidents Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma and numerous Heads of State during the BRICS Summit Launch, where she served as headline performer.
