As the year draws to a close, award-winning YouTuber and content creator Lasizwe Dambuza has taken a bold step to prioritise his mental health by checking into a professional mental wellness retreat.

Dambuza, who has always been open about his mental health journey, uses his platform to raise awareness and encourage others to prioritise their well-being.

This year, he again took to social media to share his decision, highlighting the importance of seeking help.

Known for his humorous and engaging content, Dambuza described 2025 as a particularly challenging year, citing struggles with depression, anxiety, and burnout.

“I checked myself into a mental wellness retreat for the next couple of weeks. I’ve handed over my social media accounts to my management, and they will be managing them during my stay,” he said.

“I’m surrounded by professional help and can’t wait to come home stronger and ready to kick off the new year on a better note.”

In a heartfelt message to his followers, he added:

“This is me signing out. I was welcomed by a team of psychologists, psychiatrists, and nurses. They will be taking care of me for the next couple of weeks, which means I will miss Christmas and won’t be able to wish you all a Merry Christmas personally because phones are not allowed. I decided to do this because this year has been mentally challenging—I am burnt out, exhausted, depressed, and anxious. I am proud of myself for taking this step.”

He also encouraged others to take their mental health seriously:

“If you are watching this, find someone in your community, family, or friends to talk to about your feelings, or seek professional help. Mental health matters, and it’s important to take care of yourself.”

Dambuza’s decision has been widely supported by fans and fellow content creators, highlighting the growing conversation around mental wellness and the importance of prioritising one’s emotional and psychological health.
