‘Hands off Mkhwanazi!’ Ndlozi fires warning as Malema takes aim

Ndlozi has thrown his weight behind police chief Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, calling for protection of whistleblowers and condemning attempts to reduce Mkhwanazi’s work to personal politics, even as Malema stresses the EFF will not blindly defend anyone. As reported by IOL.

Ndlozi highlighted the importance of protecting whistleblowers. "A society that doesn't protect whistleblowers is doomed to become a mafia state!"

He referred to murdered whistleblower Babita Deokaran. "They have already killed Babita. What do you think they will do to Mkhwanazi?"

He dismissed claims that this is just infighting.

"All who try to reduce his mission to 'personality fight'… are all wrong," he said. "Organised criminals are embedded with top politicians and top generals, and they must all be exposed and meet the full might of the law!"

But speaking at the EFF's National Voter Registration Launch at Gandhi Square on Saturday, Malema said Mkhwanazi must not pull him into internal disputes involving Feroz Khan and the South African Police Service (Saps).

"We are not fanatics of Mkhwanazi. We are not ball boys of Mkhwanazi or ball girls of Mkhwanazi.

"We stand with the truth, and if you blunder, we'll tell you this is not right. We don't care whether it's Mkhwanazi or not. Mkhwanazi has given us issues. We are dealing with those issues."

He continued: "You must stop being sensitive that everyone who doesn't speak well of him, that person becomes the enemy."

Malema also made it clear the EFF is not afraid of the police:

"We are not scared of policemen. When we joined the struggle, we were taught not to be scared of a policeman...We are not going to do it when we are old."
