Pretoria's Sunvalley Primary School learners are gaining new digital skills thanks to a donation of ten computers from Time Square. The handover, which took place on April 21, will support classroom learning, build confidence, and help prepare students for a future where technology is central.

Located near the Soshanguve railway station, Sunvalley Primary serves over 1 200 learners from Grade R to Grade 7. As a no-fee school, it supports families from Mabopane, Hebron, Soshanguve, and Winterveld, many of whom rely on social grants. Despite these challenges, the school consistently achieves pass rates above 90 percent, reflecting a strong culture of commitment and resilience.

Principal Mosonyane Samuel Mashiane welcomed the donation, saying, “These computers mean the world to us and to our learners. They will help us build digital skills, encourage new ways of thinking, and prepare our learners for a future where technology plays a central role, which it certainly does in the digital era we find ourselves.”

Bryan O’Connor, General Manager of Time Square, highlighted the importance of supporting local schools: “Our goal is to foster sustainable partnerships with schools like Sunvalley. By providing these digital tools, we are helping to close the resource gap and ensuring that these talented learners have the same opportunities to excel as any other student in the country.”

The new computers will allow teachers to deliver lessons in more interactive and engaging ways. Learners will gain hands-on experience in research, problem-solving, and digital literacy, while also opening doors to creative exploration, coding, and programming - skills essential in today’s technology-driven world.

This initiative builds on an ongoing relationship between Sunvalley Primary and Time Square, which earlier this year facilitated a stationery drive to ensure learners started the academic year prepared.

Sometimes, small steps make the biggest difference. For Sunvalley Primary, Time Square’s donation of ten computers is helping shape a future filled with opportunity.
