Johannesburg - Starbucks has revamped its South African menu in a bid to complement its caffeine and beverage offerings.

As the nation is in the midst of autumn, the US multinational coffee houses chain and roastery's new menu includes quick grab-and-go items to pair with their popular drinks.

These include pastries, sandwiches and desserts as well as the introduction of their ciabatta and smoked salmon bagel.

Starbucks SA described the new food menu as having “fresh and fulfilling appeal”.

“Starbucks grab-and-go was transformed into baking on site and all croissants and pastries are now baked on site to offer the fresh bakery and coffee fragrance in each of our stores.”

They said that some of the most popular items off the new menu include the chicken mayo low GI, which is their best-seller.

Meanwhile, their smoked salmon bagel and three-cheese toasties are also among their top five best-sellers.

While the new Starbucks SA food menu has been a hit, there are even more plans ahead.

“We are introducing the malva pudding muffin,” Starbucks SA said.

“The malva pudding muffin will be introduced in the Autumn Campaign and will complement our range of milk tart.”

They are also evaluating other grab-and-go items such as toasted sandwiches.

“We are working on new additions closer to the end of 2022.”

Starbucks arrived in South Africa in 2016 with its very first store in Rosebank.

Since then, it has opened several more outlets in Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.
