A 32-year-old foreign national was arrested in Sasolburg on Monday, June 23, after police uncovered drugs worth an estimated R200 000 hidden in a parked vehicle.

Members of the Sasolburg K9 Unit, working alongside Crime Intelligence, launched a targeted operation following information about a new drug outlet in the area. Their attention was drawn to a man standing in the driveway of his rented apartment, whose suspicious behaviour upon noticing the police vehicle prompted officers to act.

A search of his residence yielded no results, but a subsequent inspection of the outdoor area where he had been standing led to a breakthrough. Inside the fender of a nearby light delivery vehicle, police found a plastic package containing drugs including Tik and CAT. A larger stash and an undisclosed amount of cash were also seized.

The suspect was arrested on charges of dealing in and possession of drugs. He is expected to appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
