Miner Elvis Vers disappears during morning shift in Orkney

Orkney police are appealing for information on missing miner Elvis Vers, last seen by colleagues early on 2 May. The public can report tips to SAPS Crime Stop or via the MySAPS App.

The police in Orkney are requesting community assistance in locating 53-year-old Elvis Vers, who resides on Frende Road, Orkney.

He was last seen by fellow mine employees early on Friday morning, May 2, 2025, when they went down the mineshaft for duty. Upon reporting off duty, they noticed Mr Vers was not among them and reported it to their supervisor. A search of the mine and surrounding areas was conducted without success.

Extensive investigations have followed all leads with no positive results. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a white mine overall with orange arm and leg reflective strips, a red hard hat, and black gumboots. He is brown in complexion, has brown eyes, weighs 92kg, is 1.7m tall, bald, with no beard and a short moustache.
