Houghton Bonsai, Succulent and Plant Show brings green magic to Killarney Mall
The Houghton Bonsai, Succulent & Plant Show returns to Johannesburg this November with interactive workshops.

The annual Houghton Bonsai, Succulent & Plant Show will take place from 7 to 9 November 2025 at Killarney Mall in Johannesburg.
The event, now a regular feature on the city’s calendar, draws plant collectors and gardening enthusiasts from across the country. Organisers say this year’s edition will again showcase a wide range of bonsais, succulents, and rare plant species.
Visitors will be able to view displays, buy directly from specialist growers, and attend workshops on plant care, propagation, and styling. Industry experts will host demonstrations and answer questions from the public.
A weekend of greenery, good food and hands-on learning for all ages

New features for 2025 include live piano sessions throughout the weekend, a free Bonsai Hospital run by Tommy Ramiah, known as The Bonsai Guru, and artisanal deli stalls offering food and refreshments. There will also be a Kids’ Fun Zone with workshops designed to introduce younger visitors to plant care.
Competitions will run throughout the event, with prizes up for grabs for participants.
