A man was arrested by SAPS in Mpumalanga after being found with 93kg of dagga, valued at R600 000. The suspect, travelling from Schoemandal to North West Province, is due in Barberton Magistrate’s Court today.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested after police found him in possession of dagga with an estimated street value of R600 000 in Mpumalanga. The arrest took place on November 2, 2025 at around 8.30am.
Members from the Whiteriver flying squad unit were patrolling the N4 just before Lows’ Creek turnoff when they spotted a silver Toyota Corolla heading towards Nelspruit. “The members stopped and searched the vehicle, upon searching they discovered that it was transporting dagga, 36 packs of loose dagga contained in plastic bags, and one compressed dagga wrapped in brown tape, total weight of 93.6kg,” the South African Police Service (SAPS) said in a statement.
The driver was arrested for dealing in dagga. He told police he was coming from Schoemandal en route to the North West Province. The vehicle was impounded for further investigation.
The suspect is expected to appear at Barberton Magistrate's Court on Monday, November 3.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major-General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the members for their “vigilance and commitment in ensuring the safety and security of the community.”
