Community support across Gauteng has helped raise more than R24 000 for animal welfare through the Hyprop Foundation’s Warm Woodrock campaign, held in memory of Nicole Greenstone.

The initiative, which ran across Hyprop’s Gauteng shopping centres from July through August, encouraged shoppers to donate blankets, pet food and other items for dogs and cats in need. In total, the campaign collected R18 863.75 in product donations and R6 043.00 in monetary contributions, including direct QR code payments to Woodrock Animal Rescue.

“Our hearts are full,” says Leonie Prinsloo from the Hyprop Foundation. “This campaign was built on love for Nicole, for animals and for community. Thanks to every person who gave, we’ve not only honoured Nicole’s memory but provided real, tangible support to animals that desperately need it.”

Contributions poured in from across Hyprop’s Gauteng centres, with Woodlands, The Glen, Hyde Park Corner, Clearwater Mall and Rosebank Mall all recording strong support through both goods and cash donations.

The campaign also featured live caricature sessions on select weekends, where donors received personalised sketches of themselves and their pets in appreciation for their support.

“Nicole poured her heart into caring for those without a voice. Through Warm Woodrock, her legacy has reached far beyond the workplace. It has sparked a ripple of generosity and empathy across Hyprop’s malls,” Prinsloo adds.

Woodrock Animal Rescue, one of South Africa’s oldest independent pro-life animal shelters, operates without government funding and relies on community support to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals. The funds and goods collected will help the shelter continue its work.
