Motorists and businesses across South Africa will benefit from fuel price reductions this month, offering some relief as the festive season approaches. The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources (DMPR) announced that the cuts will take effect from midnight on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
According to Lebo Ramolahloane, national vice chairperson of the South African Petroleum Retailers Association (SAPRA), the timing of the reductions is particularly welcome.
“With December fast approaching, lower fuel prices will ease the burden on motorists planning holiday travel. It’s also good news for commuters relying on public transport and for businesses in transport, agriculture and logistics managing tight margins,” said Ramolahloane.

Ramolahloane noted that while the reductions are welcome, global oil market fluctuations and currency volatility remain factors to watch. “Fuel prices fell partly due to Brent Crude dropping to around $61 per barrel, its lowest level in almost six months,” he explained.
Sustained stability in fuel pricing is essential for consumer confidence and business planning. SAPRA will continue monitoring developments closely to keep motorists and industry stakeholders informed.
