Tug of war, cooking, cycling, and volleyball – Limpopo police showed off their skills on and off duty.

Police officers from across Limpopo province came together for a Provincial Sport Day hosted at Gateway International Airport, Karee Base, outside Polokwane on Friday, November 7, 2025.
The event aimed to strengthen relationships among members while promoting fitness and wellness. Officers competed in a variety of activities, including soccer, netball, aerobics, chess, volleyball, traditional dance, pool, shooting, tug of war, cycling, golf and cooking competitions.
Capricorn District Commissioner, Major General Lesiba Mashilo, welcomed participants and encouraged them to prioritise fitness while serving and protecting communities. Multiple external stakeholders, including Assupol, Old Mutual, Life-Line, AVBOB and Metropolitan, also participated in the event.

The day began with a 5km walk, followed by 5km and 10km marathons, aerobics and other sporting activities, allowing members to socialise and compete.
The awards for various competitions were announced as follows:
Western Cuisine: Waterberg and Vhembe Districts shared the award. Mapoulos Kitchen (Waterberg) won for main pot dishes, while Vhembe District’s Queen Anna stall triumphed for indigenous dishes.
African Traditional Cuisine: Sekhukhune District Tumpu won across stall installation, side dish, dessert, and main pot.
Males: Waterberg District defeated Sekhukhune District.
Females: Sekhukhune District defeated Mopani District.

Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe welcomed the event’s success, noting its relevance as preparations continue for the Safer Festive Season operations launched in October 2025.
