A 14-year-old boy was arrested for the alleged rape of a six-year-old girl in Makumeke village outside Malamulele, Limpopo.

The arrest followed a hospital examination which confirmed the child had been sexually violated.

The incident occurred on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at about 6pm.

According to the preliminary reports, the victim returned home carrying sweets and snacks. When she was asked who had bought them, the child mentioned the suspect's name. The child then complained that her private parts were painful.

The mother immediately took her daughter to a local hospital for medical examination, where medical personnel confirmed that the child had been raped.

A case of rape was opened at Malamulele Police Station and immediately transferred to the Giyani FCS Unit for thorough investigation.

Police swiftly traced the 14-year-old suspect, who has since been released into the care of his parents pending an assessment by a probation officer tomorrow, after which he will be formally charged and is expected to appear in court.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Malamulele Magistrate's Court soon.

Provincial Commissioner Expresses Concern
