Love expo turns up the heat as Gauteng shivers through a cold weekend

Despite icy weather across Gauteng on Friday, temperatures rose inside Time Square Menlyn Maine as Love Expo 2025 opened to a packed crowd for its annual three-day run.

The event, billed as one of South Africa’s biggest adult-lifestyle expos, returned with a refreshed identity and a strong focus on entertainment, education and themed experiences. Organisers said the rebrand marks a “bold step into 2025”, positioning the expo as a high-energy showcase for brands and performers in the adult-lifestyle sector.

Guests arriving for the opening were met with live entertainment, interactive exhibits and a full programme of stage performances. The main stage featured a rotating lineup throughout the afternoon and evening, with acts ranging from choreographed dance pieces to themed showcases. Hosts Miss Nude Francesca and comedian Shane-Oh kept the crowd engaged between items.

Workshops also drew steady attendance, with speakers covering topics related to communication, relationships and wellbeing. Another drawcard was the Theatre of Erotic Art, which offered demonstrations framed as educational sessions.

Several popular crowd-participation competitions returned this year, including So You Think You Can Strip? and a chocolate-themed contest, both known for attracting strong audience engagement and sponsor giveaways.

Organisers said the aim of the expo is to provide a safe, inclusive and controlled environment for adults to explore various aspects of lifestyle culture, adding that strict age-control measures are in place. Entry is limited to visitors aged 18 and over.
