South Africa’s biggest gaming and tech gathering, Rage Expo, opens at Fourways Mall this weekend, bringing three days of esports action, new hardware demonstrations and immersive entertainment to Johannesburg.

Running from December 5–7, the expo is expected to draw thousands of gamers, developers, content creators and tech enthusiasts. Organisers say this year’s event will place a strong spotlight on the latest display technology and high-performance gaming setups, as global and local brands unveil new hardware to the South African market.

This year’s event also places a heavy emphasis on cutting-edge gaming displays, with several global brands - including Hisense SA - unveiling new high-refresh-rate TVs, laser gaming projectors and large-format screens designed to improve speed, clarity and responsiveness.

One of the key attractions will be the debut of several next-generation gaming displays, including a premium laser gaming projector designed specifically for Xbox players, and what is billed as Africa’s largest TV - a 116-inch Mini-LED display offering advanced backlight control and high-brightness performance. These devices, showcased in partnership with RGB Gaming, are aimed at both competitive gamers seeking precision and casual players wanting smoother, more responsive gameplay.

Visitors can also expect hands-on demos, competitive tournaments, influencer appearances and exclusive expo-only deals across multiple stands.

Organisers say the expanded partnership model for this year’s event reflects the growth of South Africa’s gaming community and rising demand for high-end gaming setups.

Rage Expo runs from Friday to Sunday at Fourways Mall.
