A tragic crash on the N12 between Ogies and Emalahleni claimed seven lives on Monday morning, highlighting the dangers of speeding and unsafe driving.

Seven people died when a sedan and a light delivery vehicle collided on the N12 between Ogies and Emalahleni on Monday morning, December 8, 2025.
The crash happened after one of the vehicles appeared to lose control, crossing into the opposite lane before colliding with oncoming traffic.
Five of the deceased were in the sedan, including two women and three men, while two men were killed in the LDV. There were no survivors.
Authorities, including the police, Road Traffic Management Corporation, and the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, are investigating the collision, though reckless or negligent driving cannot be ruled out.
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Jackie Macie, urged motorists to exercise caution: "Let us all be cautious on the road to curb needless loss of life and injury on the road. We should all endeavour to abide by the rules of the road at all times," Macie said.
The tragic incident highlights the ongoing dangers of high-speed and reckless driving on major roads, particularly during busy travel periods.
