Eastern Cape teen, 14, on the run after 11-year-old shot dead with father’s homemade firearm

A 14-year-old boy is on the run after allegedly shooting and killing an 11-year-old in PhezukweWilo, Wilo, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

Kwaaiman police were called to the homestead at around 10.30am, where they found the younger boy had already died inside one of the rooms.

Preliminary reports suggest the teenager accessed a homemade firearm that his father had reportedly left loaded in a drawer of a headboard before leaving for town.

Police are currently searching for both the boy and the weapon.

A murder case has been opened, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities say charges against the father cannot be ruled out.
