A 36-year-old man is expected to appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court, Polokwane, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, facing a murder charge following the brutal killing of his 62-year-old elder brother.

The shocking discovery was made on Tuesday night, January 27, at about 8pm, at their residence in Praktiseer, under the Tubatse policing area in the Sekhukhune District.

Police said they received a complaint regarding a mann found dead in his bedroom. Upon arrival, officers discovered the elder brother with multiple stab wounds and visible injuries throughout his body. He was certified dead at the scene.

A thorough inspection of the residence was conducted, and following further investigations, the younger brother was linked to the murder and subsequently arrested. The weapon believed to have been used in the attack was confiscated.

“The motive for the attack is unknown at this stage; however, domestic-related violence cannot be ruled out,” police said.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, condemned the incident and called for calm in the community.

“The violent loss of life within a family is deeply concerning and unacceptable. We strongly condemn acts of violence in domestic settings and urge community members to seek lawful ways of resolving conflicts. I commend our members for their swift response and ongoing investigation to ensure that justice is served,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
