The drama inside the "Big Brother Mzansi" Bazozwa house reached new heights this week with the eviction of housemates Mshefane, Kokii, and Buhle B, bringing the total number of evictions this season to seven. As the show continues to capture the nation's attention, its latest live eviction sparked a whirlwind of emotions and controversies that have left viewers both enthralled and outraged.
The live eviction followed an intense face-to-face nomination session at the beginning of last week, during which host Smash Afrika engaged with several housemates. For Neliswa, the week was particularly overwhelming, describing it as a period filled with “conversations taken out of context and girls being girls.” Tensions peaked when Smash asked all nominated housemates to stand, leading to the emotional announcement of Didi’s safety and Mshefane’s subsequent eviction.
Reflecting on his exit, Mshefane stated, “My target was three weeks. I was an underdog, and I knew that if I got nominated, chances were high that I would be evicted.”
This week also saw an unexpected twist when Big Brother divided housemates by gender for a week-long wager task. The men triumphed in creating a 30-minute fitness routine, benefiting from their win with exemption from cooking duties for three days. In contrast, the women’s group struggled, hindered by internal tensions that were evident to their male counterparts.
Support for Ilano Sky grows as advocacy groups rally against transphobia in reality TV.

However, the atmosphere within the house turned increasingly toxic as allegations of transphobia arose, directed at Ilano, a trans woman. A contentious clip circulating on X revealed The Don claiming Thandeka remarked that Ilano had “only been a woman for two minutes.” This accusation ignited further controversy when Ramona echoed similar sentiments, insisting that Ilano should use the men's section when the bell rang. The remarks sparked a heated confrontation, with Neliswa passionately defending Ilano’s dignity, stating, “How dare Ramona say when the bell rings Ilano must go to the men’s section because you’ve only been a woman for two years.”
In response to the uproar, Big Brother issued multiple strikes and disciplinary measures against various housemates following an avalanche of rule violations that drew from both viewers and advocacy groups. Thandeka, Ramona, and Liema each received single strikes. Liema’s punishment was for provocatively taking private property from another housemate, while Thandeka and Ramona faced consequences for their derogatory comments regarding Ilano's identity and refusal to engage in the wager task.
Trixie received a double strike for inciting violence and provocation, placing her at risk of automatic disqualification should she receive another strike. Didi was banned from participating in the Head of House challenge after throwing a cup at Thandeka and risking damage to production property. Meanwhile, Tumi received a final warning for pushing fellow housemate Mshefane.
The backlash on social media has been loud and clear, with a petition calling for Thandeka’s eviction already amassing more than 13 000 signatures from concerned viewers. Advocacy for Ilano has surged, with trans media personality Dominic Zaca voicing solidarity, saying, “Ilano Sky, you are the first. They will attack you, but your presence has done more than you can imagine.” Yaya Mavundla also chimed in, emphasising the need for the show to foster a safe environment for all contestants.
Thandeka later defended her actions in a diary session, claiming her comments about Ilano were misconstrued as jabs. “So, I made a comment about Ilano because she kept making jabs,” she explained, attempting to justify her statements. “It’s that oestrogen, and it’s driving her crazy.” Her remarks have only deepened the schism among housemates and heightened viewer scrutiny of the show’s handling of sensitive topics.
Meanwhile, the weekend’s Chillers Party hosted by DJ Lamiez erupted into chaos when King Wanda accused Tumi the Barber of drink theft, leading to personal attacks and involvement from Buhle B.
With ongoing evictions, disciplinary actions taking centre stage, and public scrutiny intensifying, the future of "Big Brother Mzansi" hangs in the balance. Viewers are now left wondering how the production will respond to rising calls for tangible accountability and meaningful intervention, ensuring the house remains a safe haven rather than a battleground.
