ActionSA acts on Madlanga Commission testimony, removes Morodi

ActionSA Gauteng Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) has announced the termination of the membership of Kholofelo Morodi, following the conclusion of a disciplinary process linked to allegations arising from testimony before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.

“This decision was taken after a thorough and procedurally fair process,” the party said.

“Morodi was formally notified of the allegations, afforded an opportunity to respond, granted an extension, and ultimately provided with a 72-hour period to make representations. The PEC considered all submissions received before arriving at its decision.”

The PEC reviewed evidence related to conduct inconsistent with the values, constitution, and code of conduct of ActionSA, including provisions of the party’s Interim Constitution concerning actions that bring the Party into disrepute.

“ActionSA takes matters of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct with the utmost seriousness, particularly where public office and public trust are concerned. Members of ActionSA are held to these standards without exception,” the party said.

“This matter underscores the importance of acting decisively where concerns arise. ActionSA will not hesitate to act where the conduct of its members undermines the integrity of the Party or the public institutions it seeks to strengthen.”

This follows Executive Mayor Nasiphi Moya’s announcement of Morodi’s removal, who said:

“I have noted the testimony presented before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, and the matters relating to the MMC for Corporate and Shared Services, Cllr Kholofelo Morodi. Following a formal process in which Cllr Morodi was afforded an opportunity to provide written representations in respect of the issues raised before the Commission, I have carefully considered her response together with the information available to me, including relevant communication records submitted to the Commission.”

“Based on this assessment, I am not satisfied that the concerns raised have been adequately addressed. The material before me reflects a pattern of engagement and conduct over an extended period, including an inappropriate relationship between Cllr Morodi and Sergeant Nkosi, which raises serious concerns regarding the handling of information and adherence to the standards expected of members of the executive.”
