Five South African women were arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday after authorities found drugs worth more than R5 million concealed on their bodies.
The arrests were carried out by the South African Police Service (SAPS) in collaboration with Airports Company South Africa (ACSA). A preliminary report suggests the women were travelling to China via Dubai.
During a search, the drugs were discovered hidden in takkies, underwear, and private parts, SAPS said.
The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 31 March, facing charges related to drug trafficking.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
