South Africa is preparing for a major cultural moment on April 18, 2026 as Fire Water Earth Productions gears up for an official Guinness World Record attempt for the largest bhangra dance as part of Desi Raves 2026.
The event will take place at Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria, where 5 000 participants are expected to gather on one dance floor and perform a fully coordinated routine in unison, an attempt designed not only to break a world record, but to deliver a powerful statement of unity through culture and movement.
Speaking on the project, Kishore Ramharakh, chairman of Fire Water Earth Productions, described the initiative as a unifying national vision.
“One Man’s Dream to create a legacy not just for himself but for us and South Africa, also to have a fusion event bringing all of South Africans together. We don’t just speak diversity we live it and he roped his powerful executive team to make this an experience and a historical moment. Desi Raves is not just an event it’s a dream come alive.”
He added that the company’s ethos is grounded in inclusion and cultural understanding, “Our thos is diversity through creative ingenuity and this company is created for our children and all children of South Africa to understand and respect the fusion of all cultures but also as South Africans to see the similarities that we have and how we can live together and understanding, respecting and growing together.”
Ramharakh said the scale of the attempt is intended to leave a lasting mark, “We will be achieving something mammoth that's inclusive and meaningful, we will be creating a legacy for South Africa.”
With up to 5,000 participants expected, he said the choreography has been designed to be accessible and inclusive.
“South Africans love to dance, the dance moves are easy and speaks to everyone, we have skilled dance groups to assist us, they will train the people who did not see the moves on the day in a practice session before the attempt.”
He also highlighted the cultural fusion behind the event’s look and sound: “Desi wear but you can dress up or dress it to your South African fusion and taste, the official song is inclusive fusion music with indian beats and amapiano trends.”
On outreach, Ramharakh said: “We have advertised to all of South Africa and all genre’s of all cultures, we even offered the students a special discount to experience this event.”
He said the broader aim goes beyond the record itself, “This is an experience that will show diversity at its best it’s not a discussion is a real life moment a start to bringing South Africans together…it’s a start to a nation united.”
The roster of performances includes local and international acts, including DJ Reme (International – India), DJ Tira, Robot Boii, DJ Carly O, DJ Dino Bravo, DJ Desi Blue, DJ Jasmir, Just Verge and DJ Nimal, all set to bring a high-energy mix of sounds to the Desi Raves 2026 experience.
