Alain Dalais has been appointed general manager of the Comrades Marathon
The Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) has a new general manager.
The appointment of Alain Dalais, who has been with the organisation for over a decade, came into effect on January 25. He previously served as acting race and operations manager since July 2024. His extensive experience and dedication to the Comrades Marathon have prepared him for this role, the association said.
CMA chairperson Mqondisi Ngcobo commended Dalais for his leadership during a challenging period. “We wish to thank all staff of the CMA for supporting Alain during his acting tenure. We implore all staff to continue giving him their full support as we begin our countdown to race day,” said Ngcobo.
Dalais expressed his excitement about stepping into the position.
“I am very grateful and humbled by this appointment. I’ve been with the CMA for more than 10 years, and I feel well-prepared for the task ahead. I know exactly what is needed to ensure the continued success of this iconic event,” he said.
Dalais also hinted at exciting developments for the 2025 race, highlighting collaborative efforts with the new CMA board to bring innovative ideas to fruition. “Working closely with the board has helped us develop new and exciting ideas that will benefit both the runners and the organisation,” he said.
