Who does not love him? Who does not follow his gameplay? Mohau Nkota is one of the most promising young South African football players today.

From the streets of Kimberley to the national stage, his journey shows talent, determination and steady growth.

Many first noticed Nkota during his time with Orlando Pirates, but his football story started long before he joined one of SA’s top clubs.

Nkota began playing for Dalton Brothers FC, a local community team in Kimberley.

He joined the team at a very young age, showing skill and commitment that quickly set him apart. Scouts from larger clubs, including Orlando Pirates, soon took notice.

Nkota joined the Orlando Pirates’ youth setup and worked through the ranks, advancing from junior squads to the reserve team.

His dedication and consistent performances earned him a senior debut for Orlando Pirates in late 2024, marking the start of a career that would attract attention nationally and abroad.

During his time with Orlando Pirates, Nkota proved himself as a versatile and reliable player. He contributed to multiple league wins and cup runs, helping Pirates maintain their position among the top clubs in SA.

His ability to read the game, combined with technical skill and stamina, made him a valuable asset on the field.

He became known for decisive passes, controlled dribbling and an eye for the goal, qualities that set him apart from other young players in the league.

By the end of his tenure with Orlando Pirates, Nkota had established himself as a player capable of competing at higher levels, attracting interest from international teams.

In July, Nkota transferred to Al-Ettifaq FC in Saudi Arabia.

The transfer marked his first step into international club football. At Al-Ettifaq, he continued to develop, adjusting to a new style of play and higher levels of competition.

Nkota quickly became a regular in the team, contributing to key victories and helping the club achieve strong finishes in domestic competitions.

Nkota’s success at the club level led to his call-up to Bafana Bafana. Representing the national team is a milestone for any player, and Nkota seized the opportunity.

Since joining Bafana Bafana, he has delivered solid performances, demonstrating the same vision, composure and work rate that defined his club career.

He has contributed to important matches and played a role in the team’s efforts to secure qualifying points for international competitions.

His presence on the field has brought energy and tactical balance, making him a player the team relies on in both offensive and defensive situations.

Tonight, our eyes are on him as Bafana Bafana take on Zimbabwe in a crucial CAF FIFA World Cup qualifier.

His ability to influence the game, whether by creating scoring opportunities or stabilising the midfield, makes him a key figure in this match.

We are watching not only because of his individual skill but also because of how he shapes the team’s dynamics during critical moments.

Nkota has become a symbol of South African football’s potential, a player whose growth mirrors the ambitions of the national team itself.
