Sundowns prepare for crucial run-in after AFCON pause

The restart provides a platform to regain momentum, starting with the match against Orbit. However, the subsequent clashes against Sekhukhune United and Pirates — both direct title contenders — could be decisive. 

The away clash against Pirates at Orlando Stadium, in particular, could prove pivotal for the rest of the season. Regardless of the result, the match has the potential to shift momentum and significantly impact the title race, with both sides regarded as the main contenders thanks to the quality within their squads.

During their dominant years, Sundowns have expertly balanced domestic and continental competitions. This season, that challenge is even more pressing, as they chase a Pirates side with fewer commitments and a consistent run of form. 

With an experienced squad that has faced tough tests over the last few seasons, there is no reason for panic — but the margin for error is minimal. Mistakes must be addressed swiftly, and focus maintained, if they are to recover their customary dominance.

With the CAF Champions League being the most sought-after title this season, a poor league run could have serious consequences.
