Hugo Broos has taken vital steps to strengthen his backroom staff in a strategic move to gain a competitive edge ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Bafana Bafana coach Broos has bolstered the medical team and brought in a new face to support performance analysis.
One of the key additions to the Bafana Bafana setup is Bongani Manuku, a seasoned sports therapist. Manuku brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously worked with AmaZulu and the now-defunct Bidvest Wits.
His expertise extends beyond rehabilitation; he is also a certified personal trainer, ensuring players maintain optimal physical condition throughout the championship.
Joining Manuku on the technical team is Tinashe-Shingai Mukandatsama, a performance analyst at Mamelodi Sundowns.
Recognised for his exceptional skills in video analysis and opposition profiling, the Zimbabwean-born Mukandatsama has established a reputation for his insightful contributions to player development.
His rise in sports science has been notable, particularly during his tenure with South Africa’s Under-20 squad, with whom he achieved significant success, including victory at the African Under-20 Championship and participation in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
Mukandatsama’s transition to the senior team presents a significant opportunity for him to showcase his analytical prowess on one of Africa’s most prestigious stages. His deep understanding of the game, coupled with his experience in competitive international tournaments, is expected to be an asset as Bafana Bafana navigates the challenges ahead.
South Africa has been drawn in Group B alongside Egypt and Angola, making every strategic advantage critical. With these recent appointments, Broos aims to foster a robust support system that not only enhances player performance but also optimises the team’s overall strategy.
As anticipation builds for the tournament, all eyes will be on Bafana Bafana to see how this strengthened technical team will influence their campaign in Morocco.
