Cape Town football lovers have stepped up to the plate and will give Bafana Bafana the sendoff to the Fifa World Cup they deserve on Tuesday night.

Tickets for the second friendly match against Panama have been quickly snapped up with the former 2010 Fifa World Cup venue completely sold out.

This in contrast to Friday evening’s clash at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban when the venue was only spatially populated.

The demand for Bafana tickets in the Mother City is high due to Cape Town having only been afforded limited appearances by the national team, lagging behind more frequently visited venues, over the years.

The last time Bafana Bafana took to the field in Cape Town was in November 2024, when they secured an impressive 3-0 victory against South Sudan at the iconic DHL Stadium.

Bafana and Panama played to a 1-1 draw in Durban with Orlando Pirates star Oswin Appollis scoring the home team's equaliser.

Bafana landed in Cape Town International Airport on Saturday afternoon and were greeted by thousands of fans, along with Cape Town mayor Geordin-Hill Lewis.

The supporters also came out in their numbers to meet the team when they did a promotional visit at their technical suppliers' flagship store at the VA Waterfront on Sunday afternoon.

"Usually, we play the same game. We play the game on high level. We play good football, modern football," Bafana coach Hugo Broos said after Friday's game.

"Not only when we had the ball, but also when we lost the ball. So, I hope that we can do that a second time. And that should be very good for us, because when I said earlier before the game, I think it is a preparation game.

"And in fact, the result is not so important. The performance is more important, but I didn't want to lose two games one after another again. So the players proved and showed today that they also think the same thing I am thinking.

"So let's hope that we have a safer performance next Tuesday against Panama. Then we can win that game. That should be a successful campaign if we can win next Tuesday."
